About
Nikki Treurniet is a soprano with a flexible, light and lyrical voice that takes her across a remarkably wide range of repertoire. In a single week she once performed the soprano solo in Mahler's Eighth Symphony with the Noord Nederlands Orkest, sang in Handel's Messiah with the Residentie Orkest, and appeared in a Bach cantata with the Residentie Bachkoor. Around that same period she had been touring with the Orkest van de Achttiende Eeuw, singing Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. Beyond the orchestral and operatic work, Treurniet has a clear love for the song recital format, performing lieder and mélodie with pianists including Thomas Beijer, Daan Boertien and Joseph Middleton. Her programmes have drawn on composers such as Brahms, Clara Schumann and Debussy, moving between the emotional weight of the German lied tradition and the impressionistic refinement of the French mélodie.
