About
Nitefreak, born Bhekinkosi Melusi Mabhena in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, has carved out a serious spot in the global afro house scene as a DJ and producer. His biggest moment so far came with his 2021 remix of "Premier Gaou", a classic originally by Magic System, co produced with Francis Mercier. The track picked up international airplay and earned a gold certification in France from the SNEP, a rare achievement for an independent artist based in Zimbabwe. He followed that momentum with releases on respected electronic labels like Spinnin' Deep and Higher Ground, and in 2023 landed on 1001Tracklists' "Future of Dance" list. That same year he released "Gorah" with Emmanuel Jal and swept three categories at the Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards, taking home Outstanding Club DJ, Outstanding Song of the Year, and Outstanding Ambassador (Worldwide). His sound blends dance floor structures with African rhythmic traditions, and he keeps pulling in collaborators from across the globe.
