NLE Choppa

About

Also known as: Baby Mexico, Bryson Lashun Potts, Bryson Potts, YNR Choppa

NLE Choppa burst onto the scene in 2019 when "Shotta Flow" racked up 10 million YouTube views in a month, earned platinum certification from the RIAA, and climbed to number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100. Pitchfork named it Song of the Day, calling out his energetic delivery, and the buzz was loud enough to spark a reported bidding war worth around three million dollars between major labels. He turned them all down, signing instead with independent distributor UnitedMasters to keep his masters. His debut studio album Top Shotta followed in 2020, landing in the top ten of the Billboard 200 on the strength of "Walk Em Down" featuring Roddy Ricch and "Camelot". The Memphis rapper kept building from there, dropping the mixtapes From Dark to Light and Me vs. Me before releasing Cottonwood 2 in 2023. Its lead single "Slut Me Out", remixed with Sexyy Red, became his highest charting song to date, cracking the top 30 of the Hot 100.
