About

Also known as: Guendoline Rome Viray Gomez, Rome Gomez

No Rome, the stage name of Rome Gomez, is a London based Filipino musician who signed to Dirty Hit after Matty Healy heard his demos through a mutual contact and invited him over. The collaboration ran deep from the start: Healy and George Daniel produced his EPs RIP Indo Hisashi and Crying in the Prettiest Places, and a track from that first EP became the seed for The 1975's own single "TooTimeTooTimeTooTime", which hit No. 26 on the UK Singles Chart. His sound sits in alternative R&B territory, coloured by influences ranging from My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive to Björk and Aphex Twin. His 2021 single "Spinning", featuring Charli XCX and The 1975, charted in the UK and landed him a spot on Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia. His debut album It's All Smiles followed that same year, named ironically given its melancholy lyrics and promoted with a self shot zine. More recently, his 2023 mixtape Blueboy Must Die drew inspiration from Mort Garson's "Plantasia" alongside UK garage sounds, showing a restless creative range that keeps shifting.
