About
North Americans is the solo project of Patrick McDermott, started in Los Angeles in 2013. It sits somewhere between drone and quiet, tranquil guitar pieces, with a loose experimental streak running through it. Listings place the music across folk, avant garde and alternative indie territory, though the ambient tag fits the slow, patient feel of the work best. It's a one person operation, so everything under the name traces back to McDermott. Fans of fingerstyle and American primitive leaning guitar players, the kind of crowd that follows names like William Tyler, Hayden Pedigo and Marisa Anderson, tend to land here too. Expect space, texture and a lot of room to breathe rather than songs built around hooks.
