About
Nu Art Orchestra is not your typical big band. Led by saxophonist and composer Marike van Dijk, the ensemble operates with two interlocking goals: forging a contemporary big band sound and giving a platform to exceptional women in jazz. Both ambitions have already translated into practice, with top musicians including Tineke Postma, Suzan Veneman, Shannon Barnett and Ella Zirina appearing as guests with the rotating collective. The orchestra holds a residency at TivoliVredenburg, where it presents a concert series. Each edition brings a different featured artist into the mix, keeping the sound fresh and the programming adventurous.
