Nuspirit Helsinki started as a Finnish musical collective dreamed up in 1998 by Tuomas Kallio and Hannu Nieminen, and they spent years crafting a sound that blended jazz, soul, and electronic textures into something genuinely distinctive. Their self titled debut landed in 2002 on Guidance Recordings, followed by Our Favorite Things in 2008. Along the way they pulled in some serious talent as collaborators, including vocalist Lisa Shaw and Nicole Willis, and their work caught the ear of acts like Jazzanova and Jori Hulkkonen, who both took a turn remixing their music. The collective is no longer active as a band in the traditional sense, but the name lives on as an umbrella for other projects by the people behind it.
