About
Four trombones playing Scarlatti, Beethoven and Albéniz is already an unusual combination, and the Nymphéas Trombone Quartet leans into that contrast between familiar repertoire and unexpected instrumentation. The Amsterdam group brings together works from the classical and Baroque canon alongside pieces by contemporary composers, all arranged for the quartet's rich, sonorous sound. What sets their concerts apart is an interactive element: audiences receive a menu card before the interval and vote on which pieces make up the second half of the show. It turns a classical recital into something closer to a conversation between the musicians and the room.
