About
Also known as: Olamide Gbenga Adedeji
Olamide is one of Nigeria's most influential rappers, someone whose fingerprints are all over the modern Afrobeats landscape. Recording in both Yoruba and English, he built his name through relentlessly sharp street rap and a gift for melody that few of his peers can match. His debut album Rapsodi landed in 2011 and opened doors to collabs with Wizkid, D'banj, and Reminisce, but it was Baddest Guy Ever Liveth in 2013 that really cemented his status, sweeping up Album of the Year and Best Rap Album at The Headies 2014. Beyond his own records, he founded the YBNL Nation label, which has been a launchpad for some of the biggest names in Afrobeats. In November 2023 he picked up a Grammy nomination at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for the song Amapiano alongside his signee Asake, making him one of the first Nigerian rappers to earn that recognition. Billboard named him a Global Power Player in 2025.
