Omnia describe themselves as a 'neoceltic pagan folk' band from the Netherlands, and the name itself comes from a Latin word meaning 'everything', taken from the motto of the artists' collective that spawned them: Omnia chaos est. The lineup has drawn members with Irish, Dutch, Cornish, Belgian, Indonesian, and Persian backgrounds over the years, and the music reflects that breadth, pulling from traditions rooted in Ireland, England, Cornwall, and Iran. They sing in a remarkable range of languages, from Finnish and Breton to Hindi and Latin, and their instrumental palette is just as wide, covering Celtic harp, hurdy gurdy, didgeridoo, bouzouki, bagpipes, and just about every kind of flute you can name. Their catalogue covers a lot of ground. Crone of War digs into Celtic mythology around figures like Cernunnos and Taranis, while Alive! set the witches' scene from Macbeth and Edgar Allan Poe's 'The Raven' to music, with artwork by Alan Lee. Musick and Poëtree marked a first for the band when Steve Sic sang Wim Sonneveld's Het dorp in Dutch, their first ever Dutch language recording. The band has kept releasing music steadily, with Prayer and Reflexions among their more recent studio efforts.
