About
Oratoriumkoor Heiloo is a classical choir based in Heiloo with a long standing tradition of performing major choral works. The ensemble is led by conductor Paul Waerts and has built a reputation around ambitious sacred repertoire, bringing in professional soloists and period ensembles to strengthen their productions. Their programme leans heavily on the great oratorio and mass tradition: Bach's Johannes Passion and Matthäus Passion are firm favourites, and the choir has also tackled Mozart's Requiem alongside the Vesperae Solennes de Confessore. When performing Bach, they collaborate with the period ensemble Cappella Maria Barbara. For Mozart, the Promenade Orkest provides accompaniment. The Johannes Passion, which the choir describes as fierce and intense compared to the more contemplative Matthäus, clearly holds a special place in their programming.
