About
Oswald Clerveus, known simply as Oswald, is a Haitian descent singer and songwriter from Saint Martin who made his name with love songs and tracks dedicated to women. A big early moment came in 2007, when he won the Le Défi Lycéen singing competition in Guadeloupe representing Saint Martin, which got him on stage alongside Tanya St Val and Dominik Coco at a George Benson tribute concert. He followed that with a four track R&B and soul demo called My Life. Guadeloupean pianist and composer Michel Mado spotted him in 2008 and called him a golden nugget, and Oswald sang on Mado's album Dédicace. His 2010 single Nan Lanmou laj pa ekziste, a mix of zouk and konpa nodding to his Haitian roots, got radio play on stations like NRJ, MFM and Tropiques FM and did especially well in the United States. Albums so far are OSWALD (2011), Option (2021) and Oxygen (2024), with a steady stream of singles in between, including Sylvani in 2025.
