About
Özgün Uğurlu spent years playing cello at a conservatory level before pivoting to Turkish pop, and that classical background gives his songwriting a certain polish you don't always hear in the genre. His debut album Elveda landed in 2005 and spawned a string of music videos, setting the tone for a career built on melodic, emotionally driven pop. Things really clicked around 2010 and 2011, when 'İstiklal' charted nationally and 'Sadece Arkadaşız' climbed to number 2 on Türkçe Top 20. Since then he has kept a steady flow of singles going, covering a wide emotional range, from longing to celebration, with releases like 'Hayalet', 'Aşık', and 'Mahzen' showing he hasn't lost his touch for a well crafted hook.
