About
Pa Salieu's breakout single 'Frontline' became the most played track of 2020 on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Reprezent Radio and Rinse FM, a feat that announced the Coventry rapper as one of the most compelling voices in UK music. His sound pulls from afrobeats, grime and UK drill, and his debut mixtape Send Them to Coventry landed in November 2020, peaking at number 14 on the UK R&B Albums Chart. He followed that up by winning BBC Sound of 2021 and performing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and his 2021 EP Afrikan Rebel showed off a more expansive, globally influenced side of his style. After a 21 month prison sentence that paused his momentum, Salieu came back swinging in September 2024 with the single 'Belly', then kept things moving with 'Allergy', 'Epiphany / Crash' and 'Round & Round' in quick succession. His album Afrikan Alien was nominated for the 2025 Mercury Prize, confirming that the time away did nothing to dim his standing.
