About
Panda Bear is the solo project of Noah Lennox, one of the co founders of Animal Collective, and his work under that name sits at a genuinely distinct point from what the band does together. His third solo record, Person Pitch from 2007, is the one that put him on the map for a lot of people: written in Lisbon on little more than a laptop and a sampler, it became a touchstone for sample heavy, neo psychedelic pop. Tomboy followed in 2011 and Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper in 2015, both landing on the Billboard 200. Outside his solo albums, he has collaborated with Daft Punk on their single "Doin' It Right", and more recently worked with Sonic Boom on the albums Reset and A? of When. In Animal Collective he plays drums, with Stewart Copeland as his main cited influence, though James Brown's drummers have shaped his more recent work there too.
