About
Partha Bose is a sitar player rooted in the tradition of Indian classical music. His playing covers a wide emotional range, moving between still, meditative passages and sparkling, energetic improvisations, always with a strong sense of melody at its core. The music he works with is built around raga and tala, the ancient frameworks of melody and rhythm that give Indian classical performance its depth and structure. In concert he engages in genuine dialogue with other musicians, letting the sitar converse with voice and tabla rather than simply carrying a solo line. That conversational quality, combined with his feel for both restraint and virtuosity, makes his performances as much about listening and discovery as about technical display.
