About
Also known as: Patrick B. Metheny, Patrick Bruce Metheny, Yu Gno Who, パット・メセニー
With 20 Grammy Awards across 10 different categories, Pat Metheny holds a record no other musician has matched. The Missouri born guitarist built his reputation through the Pat Metheny Group, which ran from 1977 to 2010, but his range goes far beyond that: small combos, duets, solo records, and collaborations with everyone from David Bowie to Ornette Coleman. His 1985 single with Bowie, "This Is Not America," hit the top 15 in the UK, while albums like "American Garage" reached number one on the Billboard jazz chart. His sound draws on contemporary jazz, Latin jazz, and fusion, and he is known for an unusually wide palette of instruments, including a 42 string Pikasso guitar. His 2021 release "It Starts When We Disappear" shows he has kept pushing forward well into his career.
