About
PAX the Humanoid is the solo project of a rapper who spent years as the charismatic frontman of the platinum selling Kyteman Orchestra, one of the more distinctive acts in Dutch hip hop. His self titled debut album plants him firmly in experimental hip hop territory, and live he brings a four piece band along for the ride, with keyboardist Niels Broos leading the sound into something raw and tight. His follow up project, Life Writer, takes a genuinely unusual approach: PAX developed the material in public, streaming the creative process live on Twitch and making it available on YouTube, with listeners invited to contribute their own life stories as source material. Those personal stories then feed directly into the shows, where improvised jams translate a spectator's origin story into music on the spot. It is a format built around real human connection rather than polished performance.
