Penguin Prison is the electropop project of New York City singer, musician, and producer Chris Glover, who came up with the name from a freestyle rap he and a friend made about George W. Bush. Based on the Upper East Side, Glover runs the whole thing himself but collaborates with other musicians in the studio and keeps a full band together for live shows. He built early momentum through a string of sharp remixes for acts like Jamiroquai, Goldfrapp, and Marina and the Diamonds, which set the stage for his self titled debut on Downtown Records in 2011. His sophomore record Lost In New York followed in 2015, and he has kept releasing music since, including the Turn It Up EP in 2018 and a series of singles running into 2024. His sound sits firmly in danceable, synth driven pop territory with a knack for hooks that stick.
