Formed in Santiago in 1985, Pentagram Chile were carving out extreme metal before most of the world had a name for it, rubbing shoulders in the tape trading underground with the likes of Sepultura and Celtic Frost. Their raw early demos circulated widely enough to earn them a 7 inch release in Switzerland and a reputation that reached well beyond Latin America, and bands like At the Gates, Napalm Death and Dismember have since cited them as an influence. After a long silence they returned for a packed reunion concert in 2001, and a full national and European tour followed in 2009. The band has been working toward their debut full length album, a process that stretched across several years partly because vocalist and guitarist Anton Reisenegger kept busy with Criminal and Lock Up. More recently they released Evil Incarnate, keeping the death metal flag flying after four decades together.
