A Serbian cellist from Leskovac, Petar Pejčić takes a genuinely personal approach to his programmes, building them around ideas rather than just repertoire. One striking example is For Slava!, a tribute to the legendary Mstislav Rostropovich he developed with his musical partner Nour Ayadi. Every piece in that programme has a direct connection to the visionary Russian cellist, whose influence on the instrument's history is hard to overstate. Pejčić is part of the Rising Stars circuit, a platform that puts Europe's most promising young classical musicians in front of major concert hall audiences.
