About
The Pete Roth Trio came together when Bill Bruford, the legendary drummer from Yes and King Crimson, ended a 13 year retirement and felt the urge to play again. He reached out to guitarist Pete Roth, a German born player who had once been his student and later worked as a drum tech and road manager for Bruford's Earthworks band. Roth brought in bassist Mike Pratt to complete the trio, and the group moved from acoustic beginnings to an electric guitar and bass setup before taking the music to live audiences. The trio leans into jazz standards and unexpected repertoire choices, covering everything from bebop classics like "Billie's Bounce" and "Summertime" to a full interpretation of Dvořák's New World Symphony. After a live debut in early 2024, they expanded their reach with dates across Europe and Japan.
