About
Peter Broderick plays violin, banjo, musical saw and mandolin, and that range is how he first made a name: as a session musician on records by M. Ward, Zooey Deschanel, Dolorean and others, touring with the likes of Horse Feathers and Laura Gibson. In 2007 he joined Danish band Efterklang's touring lineup after their album Parades, then started putting out his own work, beginning with a mini album of solo piano music called Docile. Since then he has moved easily between piano and strings compositions, orchestral pieces like Music for Falling from Trees, and songwriting on albums such as These Walls of Mine, Colours of the Night and All Together Again. He has collaborated widely, with Machinefabriek, Nils Frahm, Rival Consoles and his sister Heather Woods Broderick among them. He keeps returning to Arthur Russell too, with a 2018 tribute record and 2023's Give It to the Sky, plus a couple of Russell covers shared online in 2024.
