About
Phreshboyswag is the London rapper and producer who ended up as a key figure in the New York jerk revival, which is a funny trajectory for someone who started out in the UK. After relocating to New York, he joined Xaviersobased's collective 1c34 and later got tied to the London crew Dogworld. The Fader called him a "key moment" in the rise of UK underground rap, though they noted he was more linked to the New York scene than London's. His 2023 debut album Rock Bottom leaned on dystopian jerk beats from producers like Clay10 and ss3bby, and "Hottie" landed on Mano Sundaresan's list of favourite songs of 2023. The Face pegged his track "Inspire" as a "jerk anthem", and his second album is called VIP. He also brought an indie sleaze look into underground rap, and Fakemink has named him as an influence.
