About
Cook Craig wears a few hats in the Australian music world, best known as a member of King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and the Murlocs, but his solo work as Pipe eye has its own distinct character. He kicked things off with the bedroom recorded EP Cosmic Blip in 2015, a release that balanced proper songs with noisy interludes to give the whole thing a theatrical, almost cinematic feel. Critics noted that each track could easily stand on its own as a single. His debut album Laugh About Life followed in 2017 after two years of writing, and the second album Inside/Outside arrived in 2019. Both records got a second life in April 2021 when limited edition LP represses landed at numbers one and two on the ARIA Vinyl chart. More recently, Pipe eye released Pipe defy in October 2024 on p(doom) Records, a noticeable shift in direction that leans into funk and synth textures drawn from 70s and 80s dance music.
