Poli Genova pulled off something rare at Eurovision 2016: she took Bulgaria to the final for the first time since 2007 and finished fourth with "If Love Was a Crime", which at the time was the country's best ever result. The track streamed five million times on Spotify and charted on iTunes across 26 countries, a strong showing for a small nation entry. The song featured Bulgarian jazz musician Theodosii Spassov on kaval, giving it a distinctive texture alongside its polished pop production. Genova is far more than a Eurovision act, though. She has a solo album called 1, 2, 3 to her name, has served as a mentor and coach on both X Factor Bulgaria and The Voice of Bulgaria, and voiced Judy Hopps in the Bulgarian dub of Zootopia. She also hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in her home city of Sofia, and later performed at Junior Eurovision 2016 in Malta as an interval act.
