About

Polina Leschenko is a Russian pianist whose playing has drawn comparisons to the great Romantic tradition, and it is easy to hear why. She recorded her debut CD for EMI as part of the prestigious series 'Martha Argerich presents …', covering Liszt, Chopin, Brahms and Bach, and The Gramophone praised her 'technical dexterity in abundance'. Her Liszt recital disc for Avanticlassic, featuring the B minor Sonata, won a Choc du Monde de la Musique, a Pizzicato Supersonic, and a Joker from Belgian magazine Crescendo. La Libre Belgique called her reading of the Liszt repertoire 'visionary, full of lucidity'. On stage she has played Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Vienna's Konzerthaus, and she collaborates regularly with musicians like Sol Gabetta, Julia Fischer and Patricia Kopatchinskaja. She has worked with orchestras ranging from the Hallé to the Russian National and Australian Chamber Orchestras, and in 2009 she took up an International Chair in Piano at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.
