About
Polyphonic Orchestra is a ten piece ensemble from the Netherlands on a mission to show that drum and bass can belong to everyone. They blend fast breakbeats, heavy basslines and electric guitars with live violin, trumpet, trombone, piano and vocals, landing somewhere between classical music, dance and pop while keeping the energy of a proper drum and bass party at the core. The result is genuinely hard to put in a box, and that seems to be exactly the point. The group built a following with inventive live covers spanning Chase and Status, Pendulum, Mozart, The Weeknd, Avicii and Eminem, which gives you a sense of how wide their range actually is. They have since moved into original material with their debut album Hivemind, which draws on influences running from Sigma and Chase and Status through Bach and Pink Floyd to latin and metal. Their live shows run close to two hours and are built around audience favourites alongside new work.
