About
Pop Noir are twin brothers Joe and Luke McGarry, a British born duo who landed in Los Angeles and built their sound around indie dance rock with a sharp, polished edge. Their 2008 track "Girls of Prey" broke into the RCRDLBL Top 10 alongside Santigold and Moby, and got embedded in the iPhone game Tap Tap Revenge 2, which is a pretty wild way to find an audience. Their debut single "DIY" hit No. 5 on the FMQB Specialty Radio charts and spent six weeks on mtvU after being voted Freshmen of the Week. The band has shared stages with Doves, Robyn, The Wombats and Fitz and the Tantrums across more than 300 shows. They covered New Order's "Temptation" for their second single, which debuted at No. 2, and their 2018 single "White Jazz" was shot entirely in Tokyo. Most recently they put out a cover of U2's "New Year's Day" in December 2023. Outside music, the brothers are award winning illustrators who have designed for Tenacious D's Festival Supreme and Matador Records.
