Prettifun, the Charlotte bred rapper and producer born Michael Raymond Javier Taylor, makes music that sounds like a video game soundtrack fused with trap, hyperpop, and rage rap. Bright synths, distorted 808s and a maximalist wall of sound are his signatures, and his baby voiced delivery draws natural comparisons to Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti. He got his start making beats on drum pads before moving into DAWs, and built early connections through the online collective 4ersona, which also included skaiwater, Rich Amiri, and Che. His production work for Che on the singles Miley Cyrus and Pizza Time gave him a breakthrough in 2024, and his own projects Pretti and Funhouse cemented him as a genuine dual threat as both rapper and producer. The sound he has carved out sits somewhere between euphoric and chaotic, chiptune inspired and maximalist, and he describes the fun in his music as more about creativity and engagement than just relentless good vibes.
