About
Melbourne's Private Function built a cult following on pure chaos and commitment to the bit. Across their decade long run, they released four studio albums packed with satirical larrikin energy, from their debut EP featuring anti smoking mascot Bryan Curtis getting "cured" by rock music, to a third album with a scratchcard cover that gave a Queensland bloke named Mitch nearly three grand in cash and a signed test pressing. Their 2020 record Whose Line Is It Anyway? cracked the ARIA Charts top ten, and their song "I Wish Australia Had Its Guns Again" even ended up soundtracking Warwick Thornton's vampire series Firebite. They announced their breakup on Christmas Day 2025, played out their farewell shows in early 2026, and signed off with a final 7" single called "Music Sucks (Fuck You)" on their own Still On Top Records label.
