About
PRJCT Amsterdam is a Dutch baroque orchestra led by countertenor and conductor Maarten Engeltjes. The ensemble recorded a disc pairing Vivaldi's Nisi Dominus with Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, which the publication OpusKlassiek praised for its combination of craftsmanship, text expression and engagement. Engeltjes takes centre stage as both director and soloist, a dual role that shapes the group's distinctive sound. The ensemble has also championed Handel's Messiah, collaborating with the Vlaams Radiokoor and soloists including Lenneke Ruiten and Edward Grint. Their aim is to build a Dutch tradition around the oratorio comparable to the Christmas institution it became in England.
