About
Puce Mary, the project of Danish musician Frederikke Hoffmeier, operates in some of the most uncompromising corners of experimental sound: power electronics, noise, death industrial, dark ambient. Her work is built on grating percussive scraping, deafening drones, and vocals that feel more like an act of confrontation than performance. Her 2018 album The Drought, released on Berlin label PAN, landed her serious critical attention from Pitchfork, Resident Advisor and The Quietus, with reviewers praising her ability to use noise not as provocation for its own sake but as a vehicle for empathy and transformation. Beyond her solo records, she has collaborated with Loke Rahbek of Croatian Amor, and performed live alongside former Coil member Drew McDowall. Her work has also crossed into film scoring: she scored Kød og Blod, which premiered at the Berlinale in 2020, and The Girl with the Needle, a Polish and Danish production that premiered at Cannes in 2024 and earned her the Excellence prize for European Original Score at the European Film Awards.
