About
Quentin Earl Darrington is a theatre baritone whose big, velvety voice has carried him through some of Broadway's most recognisable shows. Variety once called him a charismatic presence who breathes real authority into his scenes, and that fits a man who has played Coalhouse Walker Jr. in Ragtime again and again, from a 2001 non equity tour to the Kennedy Center and then Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre. The credits stack up from there. He was Old Deuteronomy in the 2016 revival of Cats and Agwe in the Tony Award winning 2017 revival of Once on This Island. On tour he understudied Mufasa in The Lion King and played Pa in The Color Purple. More recently he originated Joe Jackson and Rob in MJ the Musical, which earned him an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination, and he stars as the Phantom in the Off Broadway revival titled Masquerade.
