About
Rafael Aguirre is a Spanish classical guitarist from Málaga who has taken his instrument to some of the most prestigious concert halls on the planet. Carnegie Hall in New York, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Teatro Real in Madrid, all of these are on his résumé, and he has performed across 40 countries in total. That kind of reach says a lot about where he sits in the classical guitar world. As a soloist he has shared stages with major orchestras including the Lyon National Orchestra, the KBS Symphony Orchestra in Korea, the RTVE Symphony Orchestra and the Spanish National Orchestra. He trained at the Robert Schumann University of Music in Düsseldorf and later at the Royal Academy of Music in London under Professor Michael Lewin, an institution that has since elected him to its Honours Roll as an Associate Member.
