About
RC & The Gritz are a Dallas soul, R&B, and hip hop ensemble built around keyboardist and vocalist RC Williams, who has spent much of his career as music director and producer for Erykah Badu. That connection to one of neo soul's most singular voices says a lot about the band's pedigree. They cut their teeth running a weekly open mic at Dallas's Deep Ellum spot the Prophet Bar, which gave them deep roots in the local scene before they even dropped a record. Their 2013 debut Pay Your Tab arrived self released and featured the standout track 'That Kinda Girl' with Snoop Dogg and Raheem DeVaughn. They levelled up with The Feel in 2016, their first release on the Ropeadope label, pulling in collaborators like Sarah Jaffe, Bernard Wright, and Shaun Martin. A large rotating cast of musicians keeps the live show loose and electric, and they have kept releasing music into the 2020s with Live in Deep Ellum in 2021.
