Rebecca Downes has built a serious reputation in British blues, picking up 'Best Female Vocalist' and 'Best Emerging Artist' at the 2016 British Blues Awards and then 'Female Blues Vocalist of the Year' at the UK Blues Awards in 2018. The Wolverhampton singer, guitarist and songwriter works closely with co writer Steve Birkett, and that partnership has shaped every album since her 2013 mini album Real Life. Her third studio album More Sinner Than Saint, from 2019, is arguably her most polished release, with production input from consultant Chris Kimsey, mixing by Thunder's Chris Childs, and guest guitar from Alan Nimmo of King King and Magnum's Tony Clarkin. She has toured as support for King King, Dr. Feelgood and Paul Carrack, and played Skegness Rock and Blues Festival as a headliner. The 2021 acoustic record Stripped Back showed a different side, revisiting material from Believe and More Sinner Than Saint with stripped down arrangements recorded largely at home during the pandemic. Her fifth studio album, The Space Between Us, followed in late 2022, including a reworking of Free's 'A Little Bit of Love' alongside ten original Downes and Birkett compositions.
