Regi, real name Reginald Penxten, has been one of the most productive forces in Belgian dance music since the mid 1990s. He made his name as the producer and songwriter behind Milk Inc., the Belgian dance act that scored major hits including Walk on Water, Wide Awake and Whisper, and around the same time kept himself equally busy producing Sylver and a string of other acts. From 2004 onward he started releasing music under his own name, racking up hits in Flanders with collaborators like Trancelucent, Scala and Tom Helsen, and his Regi in the mix compilation series practically lived in the gold record zone. His biggest solo moment came in 2018 with Ellie, a collab with Dutch singer Jake Reese that sat at number one in the Vlaamse Ultratop 50 for seven weeks and went double platinum. Then in 2020 his cover of Kom wat dichterbij, recorded with Reese and Olivia Trappeniers, spent over half a year at the top of the Flemish charts and became one of the biggest Dutch language hits the region has ever seen. That success nudged him toward more Dutch language work, leading to his fourth album Vergeet de tijd and a busy run of collaborations and TV appearances.
