About

Czech horrorcore rapper Řezník (Czech for "Butcher"), real name Martin Pohl, built his name on deliberately provocative songs that have kept him in the headlines more than once. In 2011 he and fellow rappers Pitva and Hrobka were charged over their track Konečný řešení, but the Prague 5 court threw the case out, pointing to artistic freedom and the parodic exaggeration at the heart of the song. He has worked with a long list of names from the international horrorcore underground, including King Gordy, Bizarre, Necro, Ill Bill, Brotha Lynch Hung, Twiztid and Snowgoons. In 2013 he reportedly won the Internet Star category at the Český slavík awards, only to be disqualified by organizers over his lyrics. That sparked a proper row: Tomáš Klus quit the poll and Matěj Ruppert handed back his own award in protest. Before rapping, Pohl also made a series of video games called Život není krásný and directed a few films.
