About
Ringworm named themselves after a Vincent Price film, which tells you something about their vibe right away. Formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1989, they sit at a crossroads of thrash metal and hardcore, though vocalist Human Furnace has made clear the band leans way more toward the metal side. In his own words, roughly 70 to 80 percent of their songs are straight thrash, fast and headbang ready, with influences pulling from Slayer, Carcass, Bolt Thrower and Cro Mags among others. Over the course of more than three decades they have put out a substantial catalog, moving from Victory Records to Relapse and then to Nuclear Blast for their 2023 record Seeing Through Fire. They have toured across the US, Australia, New Zealand and Europe, and their song Life After the End of the World even turned up in the 2016 animated film The Secret Life of Pets, which is an unexpected place to find Cleveland metalcore.
