RIOPY (FR)

About

Also known as: Jean-Philippe Riopy

RIOPY's album Tree of Light spent 70 consecutive weeks in the US Billboard Classical top 10 before hitting number one in January 2022, which says a lot about how this French pianist and composer has quietly built a serious following. Working under the name RIOPY, Jean Philippe Rio Py blends neoclassical piano with a rhythmic, deeply personal style that has found its way into film trailers for Oscar winners like The Danish Girl and The Shape of Water, BBC documentaries, and concert halls from the Royal Opera House in London to Salle Pleyel in Paris. His Warner Classics catalogue now stretches to five albums. Bliss and Thrive followed the breakthrough Tree of Light, with Thrive drawing on composers like Satie, Debussy and Chopin, refashioning their melodies into something distinctly his own. His track Ukiyo earned a RIAA Gold certification after crossing 500,000 copies sold. His fifth album Be Love, released in early 2026, marks a new direction: for the first time, he has included vocal tracks alongside his signature instrumentals.
