About
Rizzle Kicks are a Brighton duo made up of Jordan "Rizzle" Stephens and Harley "Sylvester" Alexander Sule, and their blend of old school hip hop energy with sharp, playful lyricism caught on fast. Stephen Fry was tweeting about loving their sound before most people had even heard of them, which is a pretty good sign you're onto something. Their debut album Stereo Typical dropped in late 2011 and shot to number five in the UK, going platinum by May 2012. The singles tell the story well: "Down with the Trumpets" spent 13 weeks in the Official Top 40, "Mama Do the Hump" produced by Fatboy Slim peaked at number two and sparked an actual dance craze called The Hump, and they appeared on Olly Murs' "Heart Skips a Beat" which debuted straight at number one. They also knocked out remixes for Ed Sheeran, Jessie J and Foster the People, with the Sheeran remix filmed in one take in their back garden.
