Roda da Holanda has been playing samba for a decade now, and what started as a handful of musicians sitting around a table has grown into a fully formed band with its own take on the roda de samba format. Based in the Netherlands, they blend deep roots in Brazilian samba tradition with a live energy that feels anything but museum piece. Their setup is deliberately communal: musicians grouped around a table, audience members surrounding them, drawn into the clapping, singing and dancing rather than kept at arm's length as passive spectators. That participatory spirit is central to what they do. It is less a conventional gig and more a collective celebration, the kind where the line between performer and crowd dissolves pretty quickly.
