Born Ronald Keiler in West Berlin, he built his career from performing cover songs at small pubs before being spotted by music producers Gerd Kämpfe and Thomas Meisel. His 1980 hit "Santa Maria" is the cornerstone of his legacy, sitting at number one in West Germany for six weeks and reaching the top spot in the Netherlands, Flanders, and Belgium as well. Kaiser has been a constant presence in German language pop for five decades, celebrated with a major ZDF television special in early 2024 marking 50 years in the business, joined by guests including Maite Kelly and Thomas Anders. More recently he has been putting out new music, with tracks like "Sag mir wann" and "Ich werde da sein" keeping him active and in front of his devoted fanbase.
