About

Also known as: Hardiman, Lord of the Dance, Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance, R Hardiman, Ronan Padraig Hardiman, Ronin Hardiman

Ronan Hardiman is the Dublin composer behind the music for Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance, a show that became an international hit after Flatley came calling in 1996 needing a soundtrack fast. Hardiman went on to score Feet of Flames and Celtic Tiger Live too, so his sound is wrapped up with some of the biggest Irish dance spectacles around. Before that, he spent twelve years as a bank clerk, then quit in 1990 to write Irish tradition inspired music for radio and television. He did the title music for RTÉ news, scored the nature series Waterways, and wrote ads for Guinness and the Irish National Lottery. His score for the 1996 film My Friend Joe won the Crystal Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. His solo albums Solas and Anthem followed, the latter mixing his Celtic style with more pop, and its track Ancient Lands ended up in an Olympic champion's skating program. In 2016 he co wrote Sunlight, Nicky Byrne's Eurovision entry.
