About
Rosanne Alderliefste breathes fresh life into the chanson tradition, blending classic French repertoire with her own original work. Her solo theatre show draws on the songbooks of icons ranging from Édith Piaf and Jacques Brel to more recent figures like Pravi and Louane, while her own songs, including Regarde moi and Als de liefde het huis verlaat, sit comfortably alongside them. The through line is thematic: crossroads moments and love as a kind of universal answer. She spent years performing alongside her uncle Gerard Alderliefste before stepping out with her own show, directed by Erris van Ginkel. On stage she moves easily between hushed, intimate listening songs and sweeping ballads, with touches of pop woven in. Pianist and accordionist Rob Stoop accompanies her, keeping the sound rooted in that distinctly French aesthetic while giving her expressive vocals plenty of room.
