Roxanne Tataei

About

Roxanne Tataei, who also goes by Rox, is a South London singer songwriter whose retro soul sound caught the industry's ear early. She signed to Rough Trade in November 2008, toured with Mark Ronson and Daniel Merriweather, and landed a spot on Later... with Jools Holland. Her debut single, "No Going Back", came out on seven inch vinyl in December 2009, and The Guardian soon named her its New Band of the Day. The buzz kept building. She made the longlist for the BBC's Sound of 2010, was picked as HMV's Next Big Thing, and put out her debut album, Memoirs, that June. "My Baby Left Me" made the BBC Radio 2 A List and even reached the Dutch Top 40, peaking at number 27. Her songs have popped up in unexpected places too: "Rocksteady" in an EA Sports World Cup game, "I Don't Believe" in a Rimmel campaign, and "My Baby Left Me" in the film Girl Most Likely.
