About
Also known as: Roy Kahn, Roy Sætre Khantatat
Roy Khan has one of those voices that makes you stop whatever you're doing. The Norwegian singer built his reputation fronting progressive metal act Conception before spending over a decade as the lead vocalist of American power metal band Kamelot, a run that produced seven studio albums including fan favourites like The Black Halo and Poetry for the Poisoned. During that stretch he co wrote most of Kamelot's material alongside guitarist Thomas Youngblood, making him central to the band's sound rather than just a hired voice. Burnt out and struggling with insomnia and depression, Khan quietly stepped away from Kamelot in 2011 and spent several years working as a counselor and youth minister at a church in Moss, Norway. He eventually found his way back, dropping a solo track called "For All" in 2018 and reuniting with Conception shortly after. Since then he has also lent his vocals to projects by Avantasia, Star One and several others, and has been working on his first solo album.
