About
Toronto's Sacrifice spent the better part of the 1980s helping define the sound of Canadian thrash metal. Formed in 1983 by guitarists Rob Urbinati and Joe Rico, the band hit their stride fast, opening for Exodus on their first North American tour and later sharing stages with Slayer, Megadeth, Motörhead and Possessed. Their debut Torment in Fire landed in 1986 through Metal Blade in the US and Roadrunner in Europe, and three more albums followed before the band called it quits in 1993. Through all the lineup shuffles, the core of Urbinati, Rico and bassist Scott Watts stayed locked in. After more than a decade away, Sacrifice reunited in 2006 for a show in Toronto and picked up where they left off. They returned to the studio and put out The Ones I Condemn in 2009 on Brazilian label Marquee Records, proving they still had plenty left to say in the thrash metal space.
