Sahar Z, born Sahar Zangilevitch in Israel, has built his reputation on a sound that sits somewhere between organic and progressive house, with a harder melodic edge that sets him apart from the softer end of the genre. His long association with John Digweed's Bedrock Records imprint Lost & Found has been central to his career, and the 2014 album Time with Guy Mantzur remains a landmark release, later described by Decoded magazine as distinctly mind blowing on all levels of melodic music. He has also collaborated extensively with Guy J, Guy Gerber and Chico Shuella, and co founded Armadillo Records with Guy J in 2017, a label focused on downtempo and experimental electronic music. Sahar is a resident DJ and co owner of The Cat & Dog, one of Tel Aviv's most respected underground clubs. His production setup leans heavily on hardware, including the Roland Juno6, Nordlead4 and Virus, and he is vocal about his belief that cheap digital tools have flooded the market with low quality music. A second album under the alias The Scientists, alongside Vic F, has been in the works.
